Often local CFA members are asked about lighting fires in the backyard or outside. There have been laws in place for a number of years now restricting the type of fires and conditions for fires to be lit in the open and it’s not OK just to light up because you always have before. The governing of this (outside fires) is administered by local government and there is plenty of info at the Greater Shepparton website or Greater Shepparton Local Laws on (03) 5832 9700.
It’s also timely to make sure you have the number for the Bushfire Information lined up to register any burn-offs 1800 668 511. If you can spare sometime to help others and want to give back you your community, we want to talk to you. There’s more on offer than fighting the flames.
We are not asking you to do everything but a little something goes a long way when put together with others. Both juniors (age 11-15) and those over 15 are needed the help create a responsive brigade for our community. To find out more, come down to the station on a Sunday morning and have a look around.
