The Murchison Community Plan Group begins the new year afresh with renewed enthusiasm and members. Joining us at our monthly meetings are local resident Rebecca Hutchinson-White and new Community Development Officer, Josh Lee who has just started at GSCC, has worked in social development and youth engagement programs in Bendigo.
In the pipeline for construction in 2018 is the Youth Spot Stage 1 development which will follow further community consultation. Funding for Stage 2 has also been initiated.
The Recreation Reserve Masterplan is in review and the committee has now submitted a funding proposal which goes to Council Meeting for approval in April.
Following fruitful discussions with Tim Zaks from Parks and Recreation, the Iconic Town Entrances project will progress with initial focus on a landscape plan and design for High Road East Murchison from the tee intersection through to Gillam Road. The aim is to create a striking and welcoming avenue of trees to enhance the natural beauty of the River Red Gum floodplain and to unify the eastern side of the town with the west.
