Three main themes we identified out of the Business Event evening in and followed up in a more detailed discussion.
1. A Town Map for Visitors
It was identified that two maps could be created to meet visitor need. One to be displayed in agreed prominent places highlighting key community services and locations and a second that displayed the streets of Murchison but could be supported by advertisers (covering reprint costs etc). These could be on a tear away pad and available in different locations.
Action: Jenny Lister to draw up samples based on discussion and feedback on the maps presented and to feed back to Community Plan Group.
2. Rail Trail Development
It was agreed that rail trails with destination are most desirable and an overview of the ongoing work done by members of the Community Plan Group were shared with those in attendance. Geoff Lodge to contact Megan Hill about being involved in the lower Goulburn rail trail group.
Action: Feedback about the rail trails group will continue to be minuted through the Community Plan Group. Membership of the Community Plan Group open to all at any time.
3. Destination Murchison
The path to finding a concept that best sells Murchison was discussed. It was suggested that Destination Murchison is a good working title (and maybe beyond) as it summarises the end point to which we are working to seek visitors to Murchison, investment in Murchison, and how we want it to be a great place to work and live. Teasing out this idea further and identifying skills and assets that exist in the community were seen as next steps.
Action Damian Hutchins to convene another meeting to discuss this specifically. Feedback will be given to the Murchison Community Plan and documented in their minutes.
