Congratulations to well known local school crossing supervisor Liz Capuano on reaching 15 years of service on May 3. Well known to many people in Murchison, Liz has no plans to finish up soon. Living in Murchison for almost 30 years, Liz has overcome many challenges along the way to reach the place she is now. Liz had her first child after 9 years of marriage and with an 8 year age difference between her children, Liz found herself waiting in Murchison for the Mooroopna school bus to get into town about 4:30pm, so finding something to do around that time seemed obvious. “The best part of my job is seeing how far the children have grown in confidence from waiting to cross with their parent to confidently walk/ride on their own. They also learn that they are becoming responsible and trustworthy to cross on their own,” says Liz when questioned about the highlight of her job. “I love what I do and have met a lot of people along the way. I will be here for many years yet” Liz went on to say. In addition to being a crossing supervisor, Liz is a parent to Elyse and Shane and dedicated grandmother to Vinnee and Ciarna. Liz is kept busy with her volunteer work at the Neighbourhood House and helping others who ask for it.
