- Youth SPOT
Council has received additional funding from the Sport Infrastructure Fund to speed up the process for Stages 2 and 3 to June 2020. Council is working on plans to ensure all consultation is completed by early next year.
- Recreation Reserve Master Plan
Concern about lack of progress on plans for the recreation reserve facilities despite urgency. If it is to remain a priority how might we better engage with the Recreation Reserve Committee? To discuss way forward with Shelley Mc Cormick at next meeting.
2.2 Jenny Lister has since proposed we support a proposal to install a sprinkler watering system for lawn playing areas.
3.1 Rail Trail Stage 2
Josh Lee, Megan Hill and council surveyor looked at existing and alternative loops over the bridge and through east Murchison in early September. Bridge to Campbell’s Bend is very feasible. Road crossings to east Murchison is a small problem. Shane Stacy, Regional Development Officer from Campaspe Shire is heading up a feasibility study of trail from Heathcote to Rushworth and linking to Murchison Rail Trail. This would support local wineries and also link to Bendigo.
Discussion from Community Meeting in September noted that key people were needed to reform committee to apply for grants, make connections and partnerships.
Iconic Town Entrances
Melissa Stagg presented to a group attending a meeting early October. Four hero species suggested for East Murchison from the station to the bridge. The concept plan features several large garden beds. Species selected to complement existing palette of natives, especially silvery River Red Gums.
Resisted dense plantings but considered screening less desirable aspects of roadside buildings and cars visible from the highway. Council has already viewed the draft but will now go back to Council for more details before final endorsement. Final plans will also include elevations and drawings.
5.1 Small Town Trails Initiative
Trails group to put together a proposal to loop through and to lower Goulburn. Shepparton Mayor has contacted Campaspe Mayor to offer support for trails from Heathcote to Murchison. Geraldine Christou, Director of Economic Development at Council is also supportive and will advocate to funding to connect to Greater Victorian Rail Trail to Alexandra and Mansfield.
6.1 Diversity in Business- Destination Murchison
Damien Hutchins to gather a group to form a committee to progress the idea of Destination Murchison. Will consider what Murchison needs and what is has to better articulate priorities, attractions, liveability and to look at ways of increasing employment and business opportunities.
September Community meeting also noted that community engagement initiatives would help activate and motivate local involvement in driving ideas.

Jenny Lister is looking at updating civic maps and information for visitors. She is working through a process with Council. Other MCP members are welcome to assist in the project. (September Community Meeting)
