Members of the Murchison Historical Society were delighted to win an Award at the Biennial Greater Shepparton Cultural Heritage Awards held in April. The Award recognised the development of the Murchison Heritage Centre.
The second stage of the development opened in 2014 has been a success, as the building now provides a much improved experience for the visitor and also has suitable facilities for the volunteers. Last year numbers increased to over 800 visitors. The Awards are organised by the Greater Shepparton Heritage Advisory Committee each two years and give recognition to contributions to our heritage in the municipality. It was a real thrill to receive this Award and is an encouragement to continue the work in preserving our important and unique local heritage. Become involved as a member and you will learn so much about the amazing local history. Call in on a Saturday morning from 10am and a member will be happy to show you around.
