A message from Murchison Action Group
31 October 2019
Good people of Murchison and those who are supporting us.
The members of the MCAG heard from many of you after Monday night’s meeting that you didn’t think anything would happen and the nursing home would close.
Do not underestimate the power of our collective community action. Your efforts have helped the crisis in our town reach the media and made it to the highest levels of government. Due to the turn out of the town meeting and on-going political and media pressure, the tide is turning.
In fact, we have been told that the federal government is “doing everything within their power to keep this nursing home open and at this point its looking really positive.
”
However, there are no guarantees, so we need to keep up the pressure! Keep your letters, emails and phone calls going, and take one urgent action with residents in the next 24 hours that could make or break this deal:
DO NOT LEAVE THE NURSING HOME
LET US KNOW IF YOU’LL COME BACK
Ask any current residents and their families you know to keep the faith that there is a possible solution and they DO NOT HAVE TO MOVE. If they can hold off on any decision until after the 6 Nov. meeting that could make the difference here.
We also need to find out from residents who have moved if they would be willing to come back if DP Jones is kept open and run by another provider.
Please have the residents and/or their power of attorney let us know if you would come back. Please provide the name of the resident and contact details for the resident or their decision maker to either:
