Term 2 saw many exciting moments at Dhurringile PS. Students in Grade 3 to 6 went on camp to 15 Mile Creek with Zeerust, Waiaa-Yalca South and Wunhgnu PS. A great way to make friends!
Our Italian teacher Pina Mezzapesa visited and taught us how to make fresh pasta. It was “buonissimo” Our students also got together with Harston PS for a visit from the CFA truck to learn about fire safety, and the Life Ed Van to learn about safety rules and cybersafety, as well as a big day of robots. With equity funding from the government our school purchased Lego Mindstorms Robotics kits, which have allowed the students to build and program the robots. Robotics gives all students the chance to find out that it never works the first time and their curiosity drives them to try different ways to work out how to make a robot move. Failing the first time with robots teaches the students how to manage any negative feelings sometimes associated with “getting it wrong”. Students learn to persist and become more successful as a result.
Come and see us at Dhurringile Primary School to see how we help our students build their personal strengths so they can grow and achieve. Our small school might be just right for your children or someone you know. You can contact Angela Holleran on 5826 6222.
