Respect Aged Care willing to take over Murchison’s DP Jones Nursing Home
Respect Aged Care CEO Jason Binder has today revealed their willingness to take over DP Jones Nursing Home, provided that the Federal Government provides some financial assistance. Mr Binder said “Respect Aged Care is ready to walk in Monday morning and run this facility.”
Respect Aged Care is confident they have what is needed to fix the situation “we’ve turned around numerous aged care homes in the last 10 years, both as an operator or in a consulting role. This is our bread and butter, and we know in the right hands that DP Jones has the capacity to remain a long term asset delivering quality care for residents in the Murchison Community.”
Federal Member for Nicholls Damian Drum said “there has been overwhelming response from the broader Murchison community to let us know how important this issue is to them. It is the best possible outcome for the residents, staff, and wider community that we now have a potential provider ready to step up to the plate.”
“We now need the administrators to stop actively encouraging residents to leave as Respect Aged Care works through this process” Mr Drum said. “Ministers McCormack, Frydenberg and Colbeck responded quickly and encouragingly when I drew their attention to the predicament of DP Jones Nursing Home, and we will continue to provide support in any way that we are able to.”
Mr Drum continued “this issue sits right at the core of the National Party’s values. We understand the importance of strong communities, and we believe that we all have a right to spend our final years in the same town that we have worked and raised our families in.”
Warwick Gregory of the Murchison Community Action Group said, “we are so pleased that local member Damian Drum MP has stepped forward to fight for us and to lead the negotiations with the Federal Government.”
Mr. Gregory explained “we are very close to final approval from the Minister for Aged Care Richard Colbeck and our community will continue to work together to ensure that this new provider is supported, and that the facility is successful into the future.”
“Due to the concern about a closure some residents have already been moved to other facilities. With this positive news many who were planning to move will stay and some who have left will come back.”
Mr Gregory acknowledged that there is still work to do saying “with this positive news regarding DP Jones Nursing Home, the community is now hopeful that solutions regarding the medical centre and neighbourhood house will come next.”
“We will not stop our efforts as we continue to work with administrators, City of Greater Shepparton Council, Wendy Lovell MP, Steph Ryan MP, and Damian Drum MP to ensure a long-term positive outcome for our community.”
