3610 recently caught up with Tracy Jackson from the Murchison Toolamba Football Netball Club about the growth in participation at the Club. The Club is elding ve teams for the 2017 season, across all age ranges and grades. It has been exciting to see a number of players reach their hundred game milestone and to see the level of mentoring between older and younger players develop across the year. With the growth in the numbers of girls playing netball with the Club, it is exciting celebrate the successes of 2017 and to look forward to developing netballers of the future in 2018.
With Netball over half way through the season. C-Grade coach Tracy Jackson says the team is travelling along nicely.
610 How’s the season been so far?
TJ The girls are playing some really great netball. We have played every team now and the two top sides Nagambie and Tallygaroopna are the only teams we have lost to, which sits us nicely in third spot on the ladder. Hopefully we go all the way!
3610 Did you set any goals at the start of the year?
TJ Yes! Right from the start we set some goals that we thought were achievable and that was we wanted to nish at least in the top 3 which is where we are on the ladder. Every week we set match day goals eg How many goals we would like to shoot, how many goals we would like to hold the opposition to and how many intercepts/rebounds we would like to obtain. Goals are very important to have.
3610 How is the team setup?
TJ During our trial process at the start of the year, the girls all really applied themselves. We have a mixture of ages, skill and knowledge. We currently have three young girls who have come up through our junior development. Chloe Murray, Heidi Merritt and Adele Catania are the girls who are excelling and really enjoying their netball with the senior girls.
3610 What makes a great team?
TJ We have done some work around this. We have such a great team and the girls are really committed to the team. We trust and respect each other on and off the court. Honesty also plays a big part, letting us know how you are feeling both mentally and physically. Our team motto is we train together, we play together we believe together and we can achieve anything together. We are like a little family.
Thanks to Tracy for taking the time to give an insight into the C Grade netball Team. We wish the team the best of luck for the remainder of the season.
